A Prayer for Healing and Providence

Holy Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—one true God,

we come before You in humility, entrusting this situation into Your sovereign and gracious hands.

You are the Lord of life and health,

the One who gives and sustains breath,

and in whose hands are all our days.

“In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.” (Job 12:10)

For the Child

We lift up this child to You.

You know his body more deeply than any physician,

for You formed him in the womb and numbered all his days.

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)

We ask, according to Your mercy,

that You would grant healing—

whether through the means of surgery,

through the skill of doctors,

or beyond all ordinary means, by Your divine power.

Restore what is broken,

strengthen what is weak,

and preserve his life according to Your good will.

“The LORD sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health.” (Psalm 41:3)

For the Surgery and Medical Team

We entrust the entire medical process into Your providence.

Guide the hands of the surgeons,

give wisdom to the doctors,

and grant attentiveness and care to every nurse and staff member involved.

“Give your servant therefore an understanding mind…” (1 Kings 3:9)

May every decision be directed,

every action be precise,

and every outcome be under Your sovereign ordering.

For the Parents

We lift up the parents—

who carry both love and anxiety.

Grant them peace that surpasses understanding,

steady their hearts in uncertainty,

and strengthen them to trust in You,

even when outcomes are not yet visible.

“Do not be anxious about anything… and the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6–7)

Let them know they are not alone—

that You are near to the brokenhearted.

For Faith and the Work of the Spirit

Holy Spirit, we ask that You would work in this situation:

bring comfort in distress,

bring clarity in confusion,

and, if it pleases You, bring healing in power.

Not according to human merit,

nor according to presumption,

but according to Your sovereign will and grace.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Under God’s Sovereign Will

We confess that all things are under Your providence.

Whether in healing or in trial,

in restoration or in waiting,

You remain good, righteous, and faithful.

“The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” (Job 1:21)

Therefore, we ask boldly,

yet submit fully to Your will.

We ask all these things

through Jesus Christ our Lord,

in the fellowship and power of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.
